Precimat uses Zeiss polarizing microscopes for inspection and analysis of thin sections and polished sections. The microscopes utilize both reflected and transmitted light. The microscope can be used for conoscopy and orthoscopy for mineral identification. The microscopes are capable of performing material defect analysis and quality control inspection of micro structures that cannot be seen by the naked eye alone. Observed defects include fractures, cracking, corrosion and fatigue. Photomicrographs are captured using the latest camera and imaging software technology. The visual analysis of a thin section micrograph allows for rapid identification of sample grains in context with the entire specimen. Images from a wide range of sample applications is possible down to 1,000x magnification. The images we capture are of superior quality for presentation and scientific publications.
